Fun Friday show for October 10th 2008
This week's Fun Friday was recorded and edited at my friend Daniel's studio. So a big shout out to him and thank you for doing all the hard work.
Our discussion started off with the finer points of Gyodon restaurants in Japan. This topic was inspired by the gyudon poll on the Learn Japanese Pod Forums created by El Gringo. Make sure to check that out.I am getting the feeling that Gyodon is the guilty pleasure of many but that sense of guilt isn't as bad as chowing down on some burgers at Rotten Ron's.
Our next topic was Akihabara. While on recent Safaris to Akihabara, I have been observing the wildlife and I can report that numbers of migrating species are on the increase. Head counts of the Cosplayus Americanus are up and can be identified by their colourful plumage and oversized latex weapons. This increase has also occurred during an explosion in the meido titilatus or Maids as they are commonly known. You thought it was only that quiet Japanese kid in class reading manga and dressing up in costumes on the weekends. Think again because there is probably a cosplay convention coming to a town near you.
Apart from Akihabara,we also talked a little about music and Japanese products. Apart from being a music producer, Daniel also exports goods from Japan, goods that are usually more expensive or harder to get in the States.
