Oops, I believe the date is actually the 21st of July. And here’s another.

First Saturday in August (That would be August 1)
Banks of the Yada River
Firework makers from all over Japan are selected for this festival. More than 550,000 people become intoxicated with the creative decorations of more than 10,000 fireworks exploding in the night-time sky! ”

20th July – Nagoya Port Marine Day Festival

“This event is held at the Nagoya Port. Its main attraction is the raftsmen’s water logging contest. Since the Yedo period, Nagoya Port has been the distribution center for logs cut in the mountains and floated by raftsmen down the Horikawa River. Other attractions include a marching band, a street dance by more than 1500 dancers, and fireworks at night.”
