Babel Tower 2こんにちは、bonjour, buenas dias, hallo, 你好 and नमस्ते! Do you speak a language other than English? Would you like to be involved in a project to teach Japanese to non-native English speakers? Here’s the idea.

I’m going to make 10 introductory lessons for beginners in Japanese which cover the basic concepts, grammar and tips for getting started in the language. I then want to translate these 10 pages into as many languages as possible. I’d really like to get a Chinese translation, French, German and Spanish translations too. It would be fantastic to get a Hindi translation too.

This won’t be a huge translation project, 10 short pages at most which will be uploaded over a few weeks. This is simply a labor of love for anyone who is a huge nerd like me who loves studying Japanese and other languages.

If you are interested please leave a comment on this post or email me at info(at)learnjapanesepod(dot)com

ありがとう、merci, gracias, danke, 謝謝 and आभारी हुँ!

Hi there! I could translate in Spanish. Could you explain a little more?

Roberto Kazuyoshi Hayashi Says:

I would like to cooperate with this project. My first language is Brazilian portuguese. But I can read, talk and write in Japanes as well. Unfortunately, my english is very poor…

Hui Min Chan Says:

I am a great fan of Learn Japanese Pod. I am a Singaporean bilingual in English and Mandarin. I would love to help translate the lessons to Mandarin Chinese. However, my Japanese proficiency is really “maa maa dake”, so I will probably need help. Perhaps a collaboration with another fellow translator to bounce off ideas and double check each other’s translation? Count me in!

admin Says:

Hi Hui Min Chan, that would be wonderful if you could help out. Don’t worry about the Japanese. I’ll first write a lesson in Japanese with the English translation. You could just translate the English if that is OK with you.

admin Says:

Hi Roberto Kazuyoshi Hayashi!
It would be wonderful if you could translate the lessons into Portuguese! That would be fantastic! よろしいですか?Don’t worry, the English will be very simple.

admin Says:

Hi Cuchola,

thanks for the offer of help, most appreciated. I am going to write 10 text based introductory lessons on Japanese for beginners. I’ll give simple examples in Japanese with English translations. Then I’d like to translate those examples into Spanish and other languages so non native English speakers can study Japanese too. It shouldn’t be too much work, about 10 pages over the course of about 5-10 weeks. Are you interested?

Hui Min Says:

Cool. Just bring it on!

Roberto Kazuyoshi Hayashi Says:

大変光栄でございます。

admin Says:

OK, I’ll be coming up with the lessons in the next week or so.

admin Says:

ありがとうございます。今週くらいレッスンを作ると思います。
